The time has come to renew your porch and from the Antonio Calzado Interior Design studio, today we want to provide you with some inspiration and decoration tips to renew your porch. If you do not have this room in your house, you can apply some of these tips to another outdoor area such as a garden or small balcony.
1. WHAT USE DO YOU WANT TO GIVE YOUR PORCH?
First of all, you need to decide what use you want to give to your porch. The decoration also depends on whether you need an occasional relaxation space, a place for outdoor breakfasts or dinners, regular family gatherings or events. The usefulness of your porch will define the next steps and decisions such as furniture, style, decoration, etc.
2. DEFINE AN APPROPRIATE STYLE
Once you have established the use you want to give to this area of your home, the next step is to define the decorative style that this area will have. From our studio, for these types of spaces we recommend a Mediterranean and relaxed style, where you can live your day-to-day life but that also allows you a few moments of relaxation.

Opt for weather-resistant furniture, such as those made of wicker, synthetic rattan, or treated metal. Cushions should have waterproof and easy-to-clean covers.
- Mesas: Something essential that your porch must have is a table or a support point. A low coffee table can be ideal for a seating area, while a high table is perfect for outdoor dining. Make sure the material is resistant to rain and sun.
- Hammocks and rocking chairs: If your space allows it, expand the furniture with a charming hammock or rocking chair. This type of furniture will add style and a different touch to the process of renovating your porch.
4. LIGHTING IS KEY
One of the most common mistakes when setting up an outdoor space is not thinking about lighting. It is true that during sunny hours it is not necessary to illuminate the area, but when night comes, having ambient lighting is essential.

Plants and flowers are essential to make your porch feel comfortable and welcoming, which is why we recommend including pots of different sizes, hanging plants that add color, or vertical gardens. - Decoration: Think about the functionality of the space but also the aesthetics. You can add statues or decorative figures, some pieces of handmade ceramics, mirrors, etc.
- Protection and shade: Enjoy your porch all year round with elements that protect you from the sun and rain, such as outdoor curtains that serve as protection against rain, cold or wind. You can also add an awning or pergola to protect you from the sun and light rain.
